Regularly enrolled students may apply to receive credit-by-examination in certain courses offered by the College. Credit-by-examination is available by either of two processes: taking the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, which are prepared by the College Board, or taking in-house tests prepared by faculty of the College.

College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP)

CLEP offers the opportunity to demonstrate college-level learning by taking exams that assess the knowledge and skills taught in college courses. This knowledge may have been gained from on-the-job experience, purposeful reading, correspondence courses, adult education or televised courses.

In-House Exams

In-House exams are available for a variety of courses. Before taking and In-House exam, the matter must be discussed with the appropriate Division Chair. Then the Credit-by-Examination form should be completed at the Records Office (Rm. 1107, Center for Student Services).
