Student Counseling Center

The mission of the Counselor is to provide crisis intervention and scheduled brief supportive/problem solving counseling services to address emotionally distressed issues that are significantly interfering with a student’s ability to function. The Counselor also provides educational services in the form of workshop, seminar, lecture and mini-presentation on topics related to mental well-being.

The Student Counseling Center provides students of West Virginia University at Parkersburg with free counseling resources that include:

Crisis Intervention

Short-term Individual Counseling

Short-term Couples Counseling

Problem Solving Sessions

Mental Health Information

Mental Health Referral Information

There are many reasons why a person may benefit from working with a counselor. A few examples are:

Anxiety and/or Depression

Alcohol & Drug Abuse Concerns

Stress Management

Self-confidence concerns

Relationship concerns

Coping with loss

Coping with trauma

Primary Office Hours

(Requests for counseling appointments outside of the primary office hours will be addressed/scheduled by the Counselor on a case-by-case basis.)
